Our Visual and Performing Arts Early Years programme is about curiosity, discovery and learning that provides a strong foundation for primary education.
At MIS we offer a stimulating, thoughtfully planned learning environment with an attractive teacher-to-child ratio that allows us to truly get to know each child.
The MIS Programme is based on principles that align with international standards and the Australian Early Years Framework. It is a curriculum that is inquiry-based, child-centred and with a strong focus on developing early Reading, Writing and Numeracy skills. We recognise that young children learn best through play with real-life learning experiences, and this is reflected in our highly regarded curriculum.
The physical learning environment, both indoor and outdoor, provides children with stimulating and challenging learning opportunities to develop their coordination and control and they are encouraged to work with equipment to develop both their gross motor and fine motor skills as well.
Children are introduced to the THINK EQUAL social-emotional programme and are supported to develop a positive sense of their own self and their abilities, build positive relationships with each other and develop care and respect for others.

The curriculum is based on the Victorian Foundation to Year 10 syllabus which provides a broad-based curriculum, and ongoing assessments to track growth and development. The three-dimensional design of the Foundation – Year 10 Australian Curriculum recognises the importance of disciplinary knowledge, skills and understanding alongside general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities.
Disciplinary knowledge, skills and understanding are described in the eight learning areas of the Australian Curriculum:
English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts, Technologies and Languages.
The six principal subject areas of knowledge are:
Languages
Each key learning area seeks to impart knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes that are relevant and appropriate for pre-primary and primary students to experience a well-balanced education.
Children learn in different ways and MIS seeks to empower children to know how they learn, differentiating programmes to cater for different Learning Styles, Multiple Intelligences and Higher Order Thinking Skills, extending and supporting their learning. Children are able to move through the different stages at their own pace of learning.
